Bike Gloves

After using my mt bike gloves a few times, they begin to have a certain smell (sweat mixed with dust) how can I wash them?
If I use plain ol 'water, will they shrink up and worthless?
Is there a mixture of cleaning I need to buy to do, or take them dry cleaned?

Put them in the sink with warm (not hot) water and 1 teaspoon of soap Murphy. This is for the leather and wood. Wash them by pressing the water several times by the gloves.
Rinse with cold water and rub the excess water out of them with an old towel.
Put them in the sun to dry out.
