Marketplace | Centrifugal Clutch Maintain and update your Super Pocket Bike New Engines
Breaking in the engine of your new super pocket bike is essential. We recommend you take it slow and easy until you have used at least one tank of gas. Do not turn the engine speed or drive aggressively. Exercise your new bike at different speeds and loads, carefully and smoothly. The recommendation from some Italian manufacturers is to idle the engine for a good ten minutes, and cool off, then repeat three times.
Check your brakes
Most pocket bikes have mechanical cable type brakes which are easy to maintain. Periodically disassemble the brakes and make a visual inspection. Make sure the brake pads are not worn, the cables are not frayed and the whole assembly is not worn or scratched. Also check the cable adjustment barrels and levers. Make it a regular part of your interview, you can not be too careful when it comes to brake!
Fuel
The fuel you use is of paramount importance for the performance and longevity of your engine pocket bike. Never save on fuel! It will surely cost you more in the end. We strongly recommend using the highest octane available in your area, currently 91 octane in the United States. Also use the best oil to two parts. Save on oil will only lead to poor performance and damage your engine. Good value for gas oil is 50:1 but check your owner's manual for individual recommendations.
Lubrication
We can not emphasize enough that regular lubrication is essential. Always check your manual for individual manufacturers recommendations. Use a good lubricating oil and never cut corners with your lubrication program. It would be a good idea to thoroughly lubricate the inside of the chain before each use and after a long journey using a good chain oil. Under lubrication will lead to a multitude of problems, more lubrication has never been a problem in our experience!
Adjusting the clutch
Most pocket bikes use a centrifugal clutch which is very easy to use. The springs inside the clutch affect the engine revolution. These two sources are selected by the manufacturer to be adapted to the expected load on the bike, the weight of the bike and the track type, it will be used. Of course, these considerations will be general and you can adjust the springs to suit your individual preferences. lighter springs are more suitable for low performance bikes and lower rpm. heftier springs need more towers to accelerate the bike. The springs installed by the manufacturer may be replaced by springs that best suits your needs and points of compression springs adjusted to give a better performance.
Buying a used pocket bike
If you are buying a used pocket bike always ask the manufacturer's manual and, if possible ask to be able to check the brakes and clutch wear. A responsible seller will be happy to allow you to do. A poorly maintained bike is not going to be a bargain, but it is cheap! Posted on March 27, 2010.
