I fly outside the United States in the DC, then have a domestic flight to DC. I wonder if I should get my luggage before duty and then re-check in for my domestic flight? Or if my bags will be checked throughout my final destination?

Yes, you should get your bags into DC and customs, but most international airports have a desk and then re-check your luggage before you connect to your domestic flight.

If another airline, you will need to collect your bags and do customs in DC.
