What options do I have to correct a torque converter clutch on a 1999 Honda Accord? I have a 1999 Honda Accord and gear lately have not been properly displacement. I took it to the Honda dealer to have it inspected and they told me I need a new transmission. Now my car is only 7 years old and in very good condition and I find it hard to believe I need a new transmission already. "I use to have a Honda Accord 1991 and is still underway and I have not had to replace transmission. I feel like the Honda dealer is trying to take advantage of me because I am a lady. I could use some advice on what I should do in this situation. Does anyone know much about the torque converter clutch and he go so easily? Better yet, it's my only option to replace the transmission together? Any mechanics out there, I would really appreciate your response.
Its called a torque converter. you can try to replace it. Can you look at your auto parts store, but they used the most likely to have in stock. may be a sensor goes bad or a valve in the transmission is jammed. the first thing I would do is the transmission fluid changed. If this does not solve the problem, then I take a couple of ordinary mechanics. Dealers are always taking you away. See what they have to tell the difference from what the dealer told you. Chances are you will not have to replace the transmission together. If all the engineers say that you have to replace the transmission, then its more likely that your transmission is shot and must be replaced. Remember to ask about the mechanics Tho torque converter. If the transmission must be replaced regularly so a mechanic replace (you will save a lot of money if a regular mechanic, he then the dealer). success
probably just bring it to the institution or in a store custimazation car.
It is a very common problem and yes you need a new transmission or a rebuild. We have replaced several of them in our shop or sent yet covered by warrenty Return to Honda to be replaced.
To replace one unit of Honda is about $ 2,600 right here in Arkansas.
To rebuild one (use only a Honda repair shop or a rebuilder known) costs about $ 1,800
Honda has what is called a solenoid TCC switch just inside the side cover of the trans regulates the stall speed of the switch converter. This can be replaced at a cost much lower.
The reason is that Honda recommends the services of all the 7,500 mile Trans. This is because they use a filter, they use a tube and orfice dirty fluid causes it to connect and then you start losing volumn and then he tears up the insides. before buying a new check used one in your area. 91 your filter regularly and remember the old Chevy that you could drive for miles without ever looking 100.000 transmission. filters perform better and service is still between the two. but being a certified Honda tech technology top 20 year car, I always have mine at 7500 miles service and to replace the filter every 15,000 miles and I have a Jeep:)
