My truck has about 49,000 miles on it, I made Jiffy lube today and they told me I needed a new one? fuel filter it appeared the mine has never been changed. He also recommended to clean the fuel lines. I know absolutely nothing about cars unfortunately so if someone could give me their opinion on whether or not it was necessary or was I just / rushed?
On a side note, this will improve my gas mileage at all?
fuel filter should change, but the clean fuel lines was a trick and that you had on this subject.
The fuel filter should be change every 25,000 to 30,000 miles, you do not need to clean the fuel filter keeps clean you just replace the fuel filter on time.
What is your service interval recommened? call the dealer. But Im sure you need one or more soon. yes and it would improve your gas mileage. You do not need your fuel lines to be clean. No it's just stupid. he tries to knock you away.
Since you only have 49,000 on this subject it was time to change, you must change it every 50000 to the extent of flushing of fuel waste your money did he only 49,000 on it so it does not make a difference
You must replace the fuel filter when it is old. It will not be very expensive (around $ 10 - $ 35). The cleaning of the fuel line is useless unless the check engine light is lit.
Abstract:
DO replace the fuel filter.
DO NOT put the fuel line cleaned
The filter can improve gas mileage, but only by a small amount. (1-3 mpg)
Yes, the fuel filter should be changed. This is something that people do not mind (with trans fluid).
Fuel Filter Change Yes, fuel lines?? Year? Gasoline and diesel with fuel lines unless they can show you that damage was caused or if you have a Major fuel leak under the truck (the two that would cause odor problems), they feed on a line of BS on the fuel lines. "Jump to a different location (Mechanical honest) Even to change the fuel filter.
With 49,000 miles Yes, I want them to change the fuel filter and show them that you are old when they did. Just be careful of the quick oil change businesses make a fortune by selling fuel filters, PCV valves and air filters that Arnt always necessary. Also look and make sure they are grease your car when you visit. I always stand out from the road in a safe place in front of my vehicle I can see what is happening underneath. Regarding the fuel unless you had a problem, I wouldnt worry with that of 49,000 miles, but here I am.
